A very interesting read in the NY Times about the history of surgical masks. I've seen different facial masks worn by individuals across industries. However, I have never paid attention to its pop culture stardom. This virus is invisible like my chronic pain, but its image will be of the surgical mask. The search engines imagery of COVID-19 will be of a mask, abandoned streets, airplanes, trains and buses. Pictures of bars and restaurants with no customers or wait staff. People hanging out on their balconies waiting for a sign of relief from this deadly virus.
As an avid reader and knowledge junkie, surgical masks were not on my list. My curiosity was peaked and I skimmed through the article. It gave a historical background about the mask from the medical field to fashion and politics. So, I thought I would share this article about surgical mask while we fight a pandemic. Stay Safe Everyone!
